The Wolverines added a second goal from Gavin Quenelle with just over a minute left in the period. It was assisted by Nathan Miller and Cam Sarna.
The Stampeders came back in the second though, and it started early, just 29 seconds into the period, when Bennett Muller scored on a breakaway.
With just over five minutes left to go in the second period, Kaelan Waldner tied it up.
The Stampeders gave themselves the permanent lead with 9:32 left in the game, when Nexon Hiebert scored.
The Wolverines were outshot 31-15 in the game.
Both teams did not do well on the powerplay, going a combined 0/8 with the man advantage.
For the Wolverines goaltenders, Landon Garbitt stopped 10 of 11 shots in the first half of the game. His substitute, Chase Hennessy stopped 18 of 20.
