Wolverines get set for rematch with Oil Capitals

During the 2021-22 MJHL season, you will be seeing your favourite team take on the some opponent over and over again. The Wolverines will go through that feeling over the next few days as they take on the Virden Oil Capitals just six days after finishing off a weekend sweep against them.

The two teams will play their third and fourth game against each other on Friday and Saturday after the Wolverines beat Virden 5-2 and 5-1 on consecutive nights last weekend.

Waywayseecappo has dominated the scoreboard since the start of the third period in Game #1. After trailing 2-0 after two periods in the Season Opener, the Wolverines have outscored the Oil Capitals 10-1 in the remaining four periods.

Boston Bird has led the scoring for the Wolverines with three points, but so far 13 players have collected a point over the first two games.

Another key part of the Wolverines wins were in part of goaltender Liam Tereposky, who finished 2-0 and had a .947 save percentage after the first two games.

Meanwhile, special teams might play a meaningful role in the next two games. Both teams finished with more than 55 minutes of penalties in the two games. Even though only both teams just scored one power play goal, the Wolverines scored a shorthanded goal. There may be plenty of chances for both teams, and the team that can take advantage of those powerplays could finish wit

The two games this weekend will commence in Waywayseecappo at 7:30pm on Friday night. The two teams will then travel to Virden on Saturday to face off for a fourth and final time (until later in the season) at 7:30pm.
