The Waywayseecappo Wolverines rookie team came out flying to start, and held on for a big 5-1 win to start the preseason campgain.
Liam Flett and Holden Wasacase had three points each as the Wolverines scored three goals in the first thirteen minutes of the game to get out to a big 3-0 lead. Flett scored the first two before Tucker Derkach buried the third one.
The Stampeders answered with a goal by Cooper Gair before the end of the first period.
In the second period, the Wolverines tacked on a couple more as Wasacase and Carter Polanski were able to pad the lead for the Wolverines.
The rest of the game featured no more goals, as the Wolverines were in the box for most of the third, but was able to kill off all four of the Stamps powerplays.
The two teams will play once again on Tuesday night in Swan River.
