Wolverines fall in Virden

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines fell by a score of 4-2 to the Virden Oil Capitals on Sunday evening.

The team was outplayed throughout the game, and was trailing from 3:52 into the game, to fall four points back of Virden for the final playoff spot in the West Division.

Maddox Shindle was the one who scored to make it 1-0, getting his first goal of his MJHL career.

Marshall Light added one for the Oil Capitals later on in the period to make it 2-0.

The Wolverines got within one when Sebastien Hicks scored on the powerplay, but almost immediately, Rhett Platt scored for Virden to make it a two goal game once again.

The Oil Caps put the game away when Noel Englot scored on a 3-on-1 to make it 4-1.

The Wolverines did make it closer when Sebastian Stone was able to bury it in a wide open net after a goaltender gaff, but that is as close as they got as they lost 4-2.

Nik Trakakis stopped 25 shots in the win, while Jase Wareham stopped 25 in the loss.

Both teams were able to score a powerplay goal in the game.

The Wolverines tough stretch continues as they take on the Steinbach Pistons on Saturday at home at 7:30pm.
