Wolverines drop overtime tilt to Yorkton

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines dropped a thriller in Ochapowace Nation on Friday night, losing 3-2 in overtime to the Yorkton Terriers.

Harrison Aldridge scored on a rebound 3:30 into overtime to wrap the game up.

It is the second straight year that the Ochapowace game ended in overtime, as Andrew Boucher scored the winner over Estevan last season.

The Wolverines got the scoring started as Owen Wheatley was able to  beat Caleb Allen early in the game on a powerplay, only 2:24 into the game.

It took until the second period when Tate Schofer tied the game up for Yorkton, at 4:26 into the period.

Just over two minutes later, the Terriers took the lead, when Ty Broten was able to beat Marek Andres.

The Wolverines tied it up later in the period with another powerplay goal as Ben Roulette scored with a one-timer.

The third period had no scoring, and it was that way until the Aldridge game winner.

The third period got a bit feisty, as the two teams combined for 67 penalty minutes in the final frame, with a fight involving Sam McPeak and Tyson Perkins.

With the loss, the Wolverines finish their preseason schedule, and will now play next against the Neepawa Titans in the home opener on Friday, September 22nd.
