Wolverines drop decision in Portage

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines fell in Portage losing to the Terriers by a score of 4-2 on Saturday night.

The Wolverines scored the first and last goal of the game, but gave up four in the middle to fall to  10-14-0-2 on the season.

The Wolverines got on the board first when Ben Roulette tipped in a shot by Guerin Apperley to make it 1-0.

In the second period, the Terriers tied it up early on and got their teddy bear toss goal from Gabriel Laflamme at 2:53.

Halfway through the period, the Terriers got another, this time from Daniel Siso, wiring it over Kaiden Kirkwood.

The Terriers got their third of the period when Owen Underhill got through the defence, and was able to put it in by taking a one timer in the slot.

In the third, the Terriers got a great bounce after a puck smacked off the end boards and jumped over the stick of Aiden Moser before landing on Brendan Holba’s stick and putting it past Kirkwood.

The Wolverines added another, as Ben Roulette scored his second of the game.

But that’s as close as they got, as the Terriers came away with the two points.

Kirkwood in his first game as a Wolverine, stopped 22 of 26 shots in the game, while Gavin Renwick stopped 18 of 20 in the contest.

Portage was 1/6 on the powerplay, while the Wolverines were 0/3.

The Wolverines next game will be on Tuesday when they play an important West Division game against the Neepawa Titans on 7:30pm.
