Wolverines Down Steelers 3-1 To Win Second Straight

Kylar Fenton scored twice and Isaac LaBelle stopped 30 of 31 shots as the Waywayseecappo Wolverines defeated the Selkirk Steelers 3-1 on Saturday night to pick up a second straight win and stay undefeated on the road this season.

Riley Vautour broke the ice early in the first period when his shot beat Steelers goaltender Hunter Young. Vautour and his newly assembled linemates Trygve Many Guns and Dylan Soosay added the assists.

With just under five minutes left in the period, the Wolverines scored on the power play when Drew Anderson found Kylar Fenton who made no mistake in finding the back of the net to give Waywayseecappo a 2-0 lead after the first.

After one powerplay chance earlier in the second period, the Wolverines would get another as the clock wound down. Kylar Fenton took a pass from Greg Lee and fired a shot past Young with just four seconds left in the frame to put the Wolverines in front 3-0.

Selkirk would score a late powerplay goal but the Wolverines would hang on to their 3-1 lead and beat the Steelers.

Now 7-2-1 on the season, the Wolverines wrap up a three-game road trip in Winnipeg on Sunday night against the Blues at 6:30.
