Wolverines comeback comes up short in Minot

Trailing 4-1 in the third period, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines nearly came back, but fell just short losing 4-3 in the first of two games to the Minot Minotauros.

After scoring the first goal, the Wolverines gave up four unanswered, until two late goals made it a one goal game.

The Wolverines first goal was scored by Cole hunter who was able to pick a corner and beat Brian Cooke.

Minot tied the game when Mario Fate scored just a couple minutes later picking a corner himself.

A misplay behind the net off the stick of Mariko Bercier led to Fate scoring his second of the game to make it 2-1 before the end of the first period.

In the second period, Fate completed the hat trick to give the Minotauros a 3-1 lead.

In the third period, Minot got a goal from someone new, as Brady Zvegec put it in a wide open net to give them a three goal lead. But the Wolverines answered in the final minutes of the game as Mikey Thomas scored from a pass from Herring in front of the net.

With two minutes left, Aidan Herring scored on the powerplay to make it a one goal game.

But that’s as close as it would get, as the Wolverines dropped the game.

The shots in the game was 31-26 for the Minotauros.

The two teams will play again on Saturday at 4pm.
