Wolverines announce away assistant captains

Along with new road jerseys that were introduced against the Virden Oil Capitals, the Wolverines also named two more alternate captains on Thursday.

Along with Guerin Apperley and Owen Wheatley, who were named the team’s Captain and Assistant Captain respectively at the start of the season, Owen Pringle and Sam McPeak were also named assistant captains for when the team wears their black jerseys.

The team will be wearing the black jerseys on the road for the rest of the first half of the season, and then will wear them at home for the second half of the season.

McPeak has had a good start to the season, already posting a career high in points with 12, and tying a career high with three goals in 21 games so far.

He says being named as a captain is responsibility he is excited to take on.

“It feels great to be given an ‘A’.  It comes with a lot of responsibility which I’m excited to take on.”

As for Owen Pringle, the Edmonton, Alberta product has been one of the team’s premier defensive defencemen this season.

“I’m proud to be recognized from the coaching staff and teammates,” says Pringle. “I’m excited to represent the community in this way.”

The team will announce two more assistant captains when the Wolverines wear their new white jerseys for the first time, which is expected on Tuesday against the Dauphin Kings at Waywayseecappo Arena.
