Wolverines And Pistons Set To Clash In Showcase Finale

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines will look to sweep their MJHL Showcase schedule on Tuesday afternoon when they take on the Steinbach Pistons in Winnipeg at noon.

On Monday afternoon, the Wolverines skated to a 6-3 win over the Winnipeg Blues that saw Goaltender, Liam Tereposky pick up his first MJHL win. The Wolverines got goals from six different skaters which included three in the second period during a six-minute span that ultimately was the difference.

Getting off to a fast-paced start will be instrumental if the Wolverines are going to find success against the Pistons on Tuesday and find their sixth win of the young season/

Pistons Outlook

It will be the first time this season the Wolverines will meet the Pistons and there’s no question it will be a tough battle between two teams near the top of the standings early on.

For the Pistons, they are fresh off a 4-1 loss during their opening game of the Showcase on Monday afternoon in Winnipeg. It certainly wasn’t for a lack of trying as the Pistons launched 49 shots on net and were stimied by Selkirk Steelers netminder, Levi Mitchell.

Prior to Monday’s loss, Steinbach has had another strong start to a new season. After opening up with back to back wins over the Winkler Flyers, the Pistons battled to a 4-3 overtime loss to the Terriers and followed it up with a 3-2 shootout win over the Oil Capitals.

News and Notes

While the Wolverines powerplay has struggled as of late going 0 for 16, the Pistons man-advantage has been equally dissapointing on their behalf going 0 for 21 through their first five games of the year. Somethings going to give when these two clubs clash on Monday afternoon.

Thomson Phinney will likely return to the Wolverines crease and will look to build on his early-season success.

Jaymes Knee continued to find his way to the scoresheet on Monday and added his seventh point of the season for three goals and four assists in six games.
