Wolverines Acquire Defenceman Matthew Kasowski

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines have acquired Defenceman, Matthew Kasowski (99) from the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Olds Grizzlys.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound defender spent the 2018-19 campaign as Captain of the Olds Grizzlys where he posted 3 goals and 5 assists in 27 games.

“It’s important that we stay focused on trying to improve our team,” Wolverines Head Coach and General Manager, Taylor Harnett shared. “A scenario came up and he’s a player I’m aware of personally, it made sense for us to make this deal.”

Not only does Kasowski bring leadership qualities to the Wolverines with his experience as a captain, but his resume also includes an Inter Pipeline Cup. As a rookie, the St. Albert, Alberta native was able to capture the AJHL title after he and his Spruce Grove Saints teammates defeated the Okotoks Oilers.

“Just having another veteran presence in the locker room is something that’s very important for team success. The simple fact that he’s been a captain says a lot about his character. We like his skill set and he’s going to be a huge addition to our club with his championship pedigree,” Harnett concluded.

Wolverines fans will get their first look at Kasowski when training camp opens on August 30 at the Waywayseecappo Arena Complex.
