Wolverines 2019-20 Schedule Announced

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League released the 2019-20 regular season schedule on Thursday afternoon following the leagues’ Annual General Meeting where the schedule was built in Winnipeg.

For the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 60-game schedule, a number of key dates stand out for the season ahead.

REGULAR SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

September (2 Home – 1 Road – 1 Showcase)

The Wolverines regular season will kick off with a home-and-home series with the Neepawa Natives on Friday, September 20 in Neepawa, before returning home on Saturday the 21 to host the Natives in Waywayseecappo.

The club will head north on their first road trip of the season from September 26-27 to OCN and Swan River before traveling south to the MJHL Showcase in Winnipeg on Monday, September 30 to Tuesday, October 1 to play the Blues and Pistons. The league showcase was originally set for December and was changed to the end of September just before the AGM weekend.

October (13 Games – 7 Home – 5 Road – 1 Showcase)

Once again on Halloween night, the OCN Blizzard will be in Waywayseecappo to take on the Wolverines in what turned out to be a popular game last season. The Wolverines will look for some revenge against the Turnbull Cup winning Terriers on Wednesday, October 23 in Portage to end off a two-game road trip.

November (12 Games – 5 Home – 7 Road)

Waywayseecappo will travel south twice in the month of November on a pair of two-game road trips. From the 8-9 the Wolverines will take on the Blues in their new home before capping off their road trip in Portage the following night. Their second southern road swing will see stops in Selkirk and Steinbach from the 16-17 of the month.

December (8 Games – 4 Home – 4 Road)

The Wolverines will host their final home game of the year against the Winnipeg Blues on Tuesday, December 17 before they cap off 2019 in Dauphin against the Kings on Saturday, December 21.

January (10 Games – 6 Home – 4 Road)

Waywayseecappo will return in the new year at home to host the Dauphin Kings on Sunday, January 5. From January 21-23, the MJHL-SJHL Showcase will once again take place at the Co-operators Centre in Regina, SK.

On January 26, the Wolverines will travel to Peguis to square off with the Selkirk Steelers.

February (11 Games – 5 Home – 6 Road)

The Wolverines will make their way north from the 14-15 in OCN and Swan River before heading back on the road for a trip south the following weekend for a back-to-back against the Flyers in Winkler on the 21-22

Waywayseecappo will play their final road game of the season in Neepawa on the 28 before returning home the following night to host Virden in the clubs final regular season game of the 2019-20 season.
