With an eleven game point streak and a five game win streak, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines find themselves in the thick of the West Division playoff race.
With the Virden Oil Capitals nine points up on everyone else for first place in the West, the Wolverines are stuck battling with the Dauphin Kings and Neepawa Titans for the 2nd seed, which would also guarantee home ice advantage for the first round. And luckily those two teams will both come to Waywayseecappo this week.
The Wolverines start the shortened week with a game on Family Day against the Kings on Monday at 4:00pm. So far this year, Wayway has only beat them one out of four times, but each game has gone the way of the host team. The Wolverines are two points back of Dauphin, with both teams having played the same amount of games. A regulation win, could theoretically move the Wolverines into second.
On Thursday, the Wolverines take on the Neepawa Titans, who are currently sitting two points back of the Wolverines, but they have three games in hand at the time of this article (Neepawa plays Virden on Sunday). The Wolverines have actually won three of their four games against the Titans this year, and this will be the last time these two play in Waywayseecappo this regular season.
During the week, the Kings will take on the Wolverines on Monday, Swan Valley Stampeders on Wednesday and Virden Oil Capitals on Saturday.
For Neepawa, it will be Virden on Sunday, Wolverines on Thursday, Selkirk Steelers on Saturday and Virden again on Sunday.
The Wolverines are also 16 points up on Swan Valley. The Stampeders most points they can get is 62 at the moment, so a combination of 10 points gained by either the Wolverines or lost by the Stampeders will clinch the Wolverines a playoff spot. This week, the Stamps play Dauphin on Wednesday, Niverville on Friday and Steinbach on Saturday.
