The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are looking to flip the page on a previous week that had much potential, but came out completely opposite.
With three games against teams that were out of the playoff picture, the Wolverines (5-6-1) were looking for six points, their first win streak of the year, and a good boost into a tough part of their schedule. Instead they got just one point, lost all three games and were unable to score more than two goals in any of the games. Now they sit three points behind Virden and Dauphin for the top of the West Division with the most games played between the three teams, and are not too far up on the teams behind them.
They will now take on two teams this week in the tough East Division, along with a team they are now battling with in the West.
The Wolverines will start with a home game against the Swan Valley Stampeders (4-8-0) on Tuesday, who beat the Portage Terriers on the weekend. The last time the two teams met, it was a 7-5 barn burner, with the Wolverines getting the win. The team will also debut their retro jerseys for the first time this season.
Waywayseecappo will then travel on the road, taking on the Selkirk Steelers (10-1-1) on Friday, who have been almost perfect this season. Then they’ll head to Portage on Sunday to take on the Terriers (7-3-1), another team that could be first in the West Division.
