Uninspired Effort Leads to 6-0 Loss on Sunday Night

The Portage Terriers were just too much for the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Sunday night as goals from five different Terriers sunk the Wolverines in a 6-0 loss.

The first period saw the Terriers take control early which would result in Logan Calder beating Nathan Reay post in from the slot just prior to the halfway mark of the period.

Bad blood would boil over from Saturday nights loss which would see both teams jawing at one another for the duration of the period.

The Wolverines would get a five-minute powerplay after Peyton Gorski was called for a Major Blow to the Head, but the Terriers did a great job of keeping the Wolverines to the perimeter and killed off the man-advantage. Despite heading into the first intermission down 1-0, the Wolverines would lead the shot clock 14-10.

Both teams would get their chances in the second period and it would be the Terriers who would capitalize on a pair of goals late in the frame.

Riley Vautour would exit the game after a hit to his shoulder and the Wolverines couldn’t recover.

Jay Buchholz scored at 15:10 to put the Terriers in front 2-0 before Sheldin Howard scored another for Portage two minutes later to take a 3-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

From puck drop on the third period, it was all Terriers. Braden Billaney and Ocean Wiesblatt would score in the first six minutes to increase the Terrier lead by 5-0.

Sheldin Howard would score a late goal for the Terriers to make it 6-0 which would seal the win for Portage. Portage led the shot clock 33-31 after sixty minutes and

The loss drops Waywayseecappo to 15-20-2-2 on the season with their next game coming up on Wednesday, January 9th in Waywayseecappo against the Winnipeg Blues.
