Third-Period Push Falls Short as Wolverines Edged by Millionaires

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines closed their preseason schedule with a narrow 2-1 loss to the Melville Millionaires on Wednesday night at the Waywayseecappo Arena Complex.

Melville opened the scoring just 1:36 into the game when Jaden Kokosha found the back of the net. The Millionaires added to their lead midway through the second period, with Wesley Olson making it 2-0.

The Wolverines began their comeback early in the third. Ryden Duchon scored his second goal in as many nights on the power play at 5:44, cutting the deficit to one. Adam Chipelski and goaltender Mariko Bercier picked up the assists.

Waywayseecappo continued pushing for the tying goal but couldn’t find the equalizer before time expired. Bercier provided a steady performance in the Wolverines’ crease, while the penalty kill held Melville scoreless on four opportunities.

The Wolverines will now turn their attention to the regular season and their home opener on Friday, September 18.
