The Waywayseecappo Wolverines were not the one that could end the early season streak that the Selkirk Steelers are on, after they lost 6-2 on Thursday night.
The Steelers won their tenth straight game in a row to start the season, out gunning the Wolverines on the night.
It took till halfway through the period for the Steelers to first get on the baord when Owen Warnick was able to snipe it backhanded past Wolverines goaltender Koen Tyssen to make it 1-0.
The Wolverines tied the game when Cole Hunter fed it to Deegan Wapass near the end of the period.
But Selkirk got back in front before the end of the first when former Wolverine Luke McCarthy beat Tyssen on a 2-on-1.
In the second, Selkirk got a goal early on when Rohan Guevarra was able to score from the slot to make it 3-1.
Then in a minute and a half span, the Steelers got two goals from Wyatt Witham and Brandon Corda, his first goal in the MJHL.
The Wolverines made it closer for a second when Sebastien Hicks scored his first of the year to make it 5-2, but the Steelers scored in the final minute of the period to make it 6-2.
In the second, Jase Wareham came in to replace Tyssen after the Steelers 5th goal.
In the third, no goals were scored and Selkirk ended up winning to make it ten in a row.
The Wolverines continued their special team success and disapointment, going 0/2 on the powerplay but continuing their penalty kill steak killing off both of Selkirk’s powerplays.
The Wolverines will next face off against the Dauphin kings on Sunday in Dauphin at 4:00pm.
