Special Team blunders lead to Wolverines loss

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines and Dauphin Kings played one of the games of year, but at the end, it was the Kings that came out on top with a 5-4 road win.

The game had four lead changes, and was tied at three different times. The Wolverines had a 4-2 lead, but let that go to waste by the end of the second period.

The Wolverines got the scoring started Sebastien Hicks scored on the powerplay by tipping in a shot from Brock Behrend.

The Kings tied it up quickly though when Gabriel Bugeaud was able to get a lucky bounce.

At the end of the period, the Kings picked up on a Wolverines blunder on the powerplay, and Ethan Williment was able to evade a Jase Wareham poke check to put it away and make it 2-1 with a shorthanded goal.

In the second period, Sebastien Hicks tied it up at 2 when he was able to go in on a breakaway and beat Cole Sheffield.

The Wolverines took the lead when Deegan Wapass beat Sheffield with a shot from the point that went over the blocker.

The team added another when Dauphin was close to tying the game, but Dru Mushumanski came the other way and passed it to Sebastian Stone, and he was able to bury it to make it 4-2.

The Kings came back with a fury though, when Cayden Glover scored on the powerplay to make it a one goal game.

Then, when shorthanded, Madden Murray scored on a breakaway to tie the game up at 4 to end the the second period.

In the third period, the Kings scored the game winning goal when Nathan Lenoski scored his third goal of the game, just after a four minute powerplay expired.

The Kings got the win for Sheffield, who stopped 21 shots. Meanwhile Jase Wareham stopped 32 shots in the loss.

The Wolverines penalty kill was nearly flawless, just giving up one goal, but the poweprlay was 1/7, and couldn’t get much going throughout the game.

The Wolverines will now take a week and a half long break, and won’t play until October
