RECAP: Wolverines take commanding 3-0 series lead with OT win

For the first time in Waywayseecappo Wolverines history, they have a 3-0 series lead, with a chance to advance to the second round, after a 3-2 double overtime win over the Dauphin Kings.

Sebastien Hicks scored off a bank shot just 1:35 in second overtime, scoring his second of the game, and giving Waywayseecappo a 3-0 series lead. It was the Wolverines second overtime win of the series.

It was only the Wolverines second shot of the entire overtime, while Jase Wareham stopped 9 shots in the first overtime.

In the first period, the only team to score was the Dauphin Kings as Madden Murray was able to put in a wide open net after a nice passing sequence with Aiden Murray, halfway through the period.

In the second period, the Wolverines tied it up when Ben Roulette put a puck on net, and thanks to a fortunate bounce, Dylan Duzan was able to put his second goal of the playoffs in a wide open net.

The Kings thought the retook the lead, but a goal was disallowed when one of their players interfered with Wolverines goaltender Jase Wareham.

Later on, on the team’s fourth powerplay opportunity, Sebastien Hicks one timed one five hole through Bryson Yaschyshyn to make it 2-1.

But the Kings scored immediately when 16 seconds later, Joey Kubas was found all alone to rip one past Wareham to tie it at 2 heading into the third.

The third period was back and forth, as the game went to another level with teams exchanging chances.

After 11 and a half minutes of extra time, Hicks scored his fourth of the series to give the Wolverines a commanding series lead.

Wareham stopped 36 of 38 shots in the win, while Yaschyshyn stopped 23 of 26 shots in the loss.

The two teams will meet for Game 4 on Thursday night in Waywayseecappo at 7:30pm.
