RECAP: Wolverines struggle in Swan Valley

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines failed once again to get consecutive wins after a demoralizing 5-2 loss to the Swan Valley Stampeders.

One week after beating the Stamps 9-1, the Wolverines had nothing in the tank, giving up five straight goals before having a bit of a bounce back at the end of the game.

The Stampeders got out to a 2-0 lead after the first period when Ethan MacTavish and Karson Connelly both scored off bounces.

The Stamps added another late in the second period when Darren Hunt scored with 3:18 left on the powerplay to make it a three goal lead heading into the third.

In the third, Swan Valley put the game away with two powerplay goals by Trace Langan and Riley Fequet, putting the game on ice and giving themselves a 5-0 lead.

The Wolverines scored two goals late by Cole Hunter and Brodie Heimbecker, but that’s thee offence the team could muster for the game.

Waywayseecappo was outshot 39-26 in the game, and was being outshot 25-11 after two periods. The team was 0/5 on the powerplay and got shelled with a man down, as the Stamps went 3/5.

The Wolverines will next take on the Portage Terriers on Thursday night for the second time this season, at 7:30pm at the Waywayseecappo Arena.
