RECAP: Wolverines stay alive with last minute win

The brooms have been put back in the closet, as the Waywayseecappo Wolverines avoided a sweep to win 5-3 in Game 4 of the first round series.

The Wolverines collected their first playoff win since 2019 to stave off elimination for another day, forcing a Game 5 back in Dauphin on Saturday night.

Ryley Cyca scored two goals, and Aidan Herring put in the rebound with 1:50 left in the game to give the Wolverines a go ahead goal.

The game started out different that the first three games, as both teams scored in the opening frame. Ethan Stewart scored first with his second goal of the playoffs. Cyca tied it up later after getting pass from Jack Clarke.

In the second period, the Wolverines took the lead on a powerplay goal by Cyca to make it 2-1.

Dauphin answered with their first powerplay goal of the playoffs as Havryil Simchuk was able to slide one past Mariko Bercier’s pad to tie the game up at 2.

In the third period, Jacob McKague was able to fire one past Cole Sheffield to put the Wolverines up 3-2, putting them in a position to hold on for the rest of the game.

But Declan Hoad was able to tie the game up with 6:09 left in the game as be put on five hole.

But Herring scored late in the game to put the Wolverines on top for good, and Cole Hunter scored an empty net goal to make it 5-3.

Bercier stopped 31 for the win, while Sheffield was only able to stop 17 in the loss.

The two teams will face off for Game 5 on Saturday night in Dauphin at 7
