Another slow start got the best of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines as they fell 4-2 to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard on Tuesday night.
Three goals in three minutes halfway through the first period set up the Blizzard for the win, as they held on the rest of the way, squashing any chance of a Wolverines comeback.
Goals by Jack Linton, Quincy Supprien and Brett Ward in 2:58 gave the Blizzard a 3-0 lead heading into the second period. The Blizzard outshot the Wolverines 15-5 in the period.
In the second period, Aidan Herring was able to cut the lead down to two with 1:11 left in the period.
After pushing for most of the third period, the Blizzard put the game away when Supprien scored his second of the game with 3:22 left in the game.
The Wolverines did get another with a Ryley Cyca goal with 1:05 left in the game, but that’s as close as they would get.
The Wolverines were 0/5 on the powerplay, with them killing off two of three powerplays for the Blizzard.
Jase Wareham stopped 26 of 30 shots in the loss, while Taye Timmerman stopped 22 of 24 in the win.
The Wolverines next game will be on Saturday when they host the Swan Valley Stamped
