RECAP: Wolverines shutout by Nighthawks

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines find themselves on the brink of elimination as they got shut out by the Niverville Nighthawks 3-0, and now trail the best of seven series 3-1.

Adam Vigfusson put up a goal and two assists, to give the Wolverines their first loss on home ice in the playoffs.

Niverville didn’t score their first goal until halfway through the second period when Merik Boles scored his first of the playoffs on the powerplay.

A turnover in the third period, create a chance for the Nighthawks that Marlen Edwards scored on to make it a 2-0 lead, and put the game out of reach. Vigfusson scored the empty net goal to make it a 3-0 final.

Austin Dubinsky stopped all 21 shots he faced for his second shutout of the playoffs. Jase Wareham stopped 25 in the loss.

The Nighthawks scored on one of their three powerplay chances, while the Wolverines were 0/2 in the game.

The two teams will play again on Friday as the Wolverines will look to stave off elimination in Niverville.
