Even though they were outshot, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines bounced back after a loss, beating the Portage Terrier 5-1 on Sunday night.
Jase Wareham stopped 44 shots, Sebastien Hicks scored twice, and the Wolverines got out to an early lead and never gave it up to get their 7th win of the year.
The Wolverines got out to a quick 2-0 lead when Henry Thunderblanket scored his first career MJHL goal, and then Dylan Duzan finished off a nice passing play to give him his 7th goal of the season.
The Terriers got within one when Ryker Thomas banged in a rebound at the 13:23 mark of the period.
In the second, the Wolverines gave themselves a two goal lead again when Max Collyer scored on a 2-on-1 with Cole Hunter.
Then on the Wolverines first powerplay of the game, Sebastien Hicks scored his league leading 10th of the season on a one timer to make it 4-1.
In the third, Hicks made it his 11th goal of the season, icing the game, with 5:26 left to go in the game.
The Wolverines killed off all seven of Portage’s powerplays in the game, and were 2/5 on their own mad advantages.
Waywayseecappo will next travel to Swan Valley to take on the Stampeders on Tuesday night, looking to get their first two game win streak of the year.
