The comeback was not to be as the Wolverines lost 3-2 to the Dauphin Kings on Saturday night, losing the series 4-1.
Going down 3-1 early on in the third, the Wolverines could only get one back the rest of the way.
The first period was a penalty filled affair with both teams getting powerplay goals. It took until the third man advantage for the Kings to score, as Gabriel Bugeaud was able to lift one over Bercier to make it 1-0.
Near the end of the period, a shot by Jaxon Grosdidier was tipped in by Cole Hunter to make it 1-1.
In the second period, Havryil Simchuk walked out into the slot to make it 2-1 for the Kings.
In the third, Bugeaud scored 1:13 into the period to make it 3-1.
Dylan Duzan made it more of a game for the Wolverines with a goal at the 6:14 mark to make it a battle the rest of the way.
But all the Wolverines could get were close calls as the Kings finished off the win.
Dauphin moves on to the second round of the playoffs and will wait to see who they play.
For the Wolverines, they finish the season with their first playoff appearance since 2022, and first playoff win since 2019.
