RECAP: Wolverines score seven in win against Kings

The Wolverines scored seven goals on the Dauphin Kings to beat them 7-5 on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines put up four goals in the second and held on for the last few minutes of the game for a close comeback from Dauphin.

The Kings scored first when Rylan Ringor was able to get in a rebound to beat Jase Wareham.

But just under a minute later, on the powerplay, Sebastien Hicks was able to beat Bryson Yaschshyn to tie it up.

In the second period the Wolverines exploded for three straight goals. Cam Sarna started it up with his first MJHL goal at 6:13 of the period. Sebastien Hicks got his second of the game when a puck bounced off him from Jonah Marshall to make it 3-1. Then Lucas Perry scored his fourth of the season to make it 4-1. After the fourth goal, Cole Sheffield came in for the Kings.

The Kings had a comeback though, as Gavin Nemis and Rylan Gage scored within a minute of each other to make it 5-3.

Before the end of the period, the Wolverines were put on the powerplay, and Jaxon Grosdidier got his 9th of the season to put the team up 5-3 at the end of the period.

In the third period, Jaxon Grosdidier scored his second of the game of a beautiful backhanded shot to beat Sheffield.

The Kings started to come back though when Gabriel Bugeaud scored with less than five minutes to make it a two goal game.

Kings made it a one goal game when Cayden Glover scored his 23rd of the season. with just 1:42 left in the game.

But the Wolverines iced the game when Griffin Ayotte scored in the empty net to make it a final 7-5.

Wareham stopped 36 shots in the win. The Wolverines were 2/3 on the powerplay.

With the win, the Wolverines tie up with the Oil Capitals for the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division.

The Wolverines will next travel to Neepawa on Friday to take on the Titans at 7:30pm.
