RECAP: Wolverines lose to Nighthawks

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines went into Niverville missing a few of their regular players, on the way to a 3-1 loss to the Niverville Nighthawks.

The Wolverines were heavily outshot and were unable to convert on any of their eight powerplay chances during the game.

The Wolverines got on the scoreboard early when Jaxon Grosdidier got a lucky bounce after a shot. The puck was blocked, hit the end wall, and bounced off the skate of AustinĀ  Dubinsky.

The Nighthakws did tie it up at the 6:53 mark, when Aiden Corbett was able to wire it past Mariko Bercier.

In the second period, the Wolverines thought they took a lead when Jacob McKague scored, but the goal was waived off because of a hand pass.

Minutes later, the Nighthawks scored when Lucas Bertolin sniped one past Bercier to make it 2-1.

In the third period, Matteo Speranza was able to tip in a shot from the point to give the Nighthawks a 3-1 lead.

The Wolverines had a chance at the end with a four minute powerplay near the end of the game, but was unable to get any Grade A chances or score a goal.

Bercier stopped 46 saves in the loss, while Austin Dubinsky stopped 31 in the win.

The Wolverines fall behind Virden again, two points back after the Oil Capitals beat the Blues on Sunday.

Waywayseecappo will next play on Tuesday, this time on home ice,
