The Waywayseecappo Wolverines had a lead heading into the third period, but give up three unanswered and lost in overtime over the Dauphin Kings.
In what could end up as a potential playoff preview, the Dauphin Kings ended up being the first one to win on the road this year, and winning the season series, which could up being handy at the end of the season.
The Wolverines held a 3-1 lead heading into the final twenty minutes of the game, when Sebastien Hicks, Dylan Duzan and Cole hunter scored in the first two periods. But the Kings scored twice in the first 11 minutes of the third, including one goal just 16 seconds into the period to tie the game up and force it to go to overtime.
After a Ben Roulette tripping penalty, Ethan Stewart scored on the powerplay to win the game, and give the Kings a three point cushion on the Wolverines, all but securing the 2nd seed in the West Division.
Mariko Bercier stopped 35 of 39 shots in the loss, while Hunter Bauer stopped 21 of 24 in the win.
After being outplayed in the first period, the Kings outshot the Wolverines 29-12 in the rest of regulation and then took all four shots in overtime.
The Wolverines will now wait for a whole week before playing again, and will play a three games in three days schedule to end the season, starting with a game in Neepawa on Friday at 7:30pm.
