RECAP: Wolverines lose in overtime to Blizzard

The Waywayseecappo fumbled the game away after a last minute goal sent the game to overtime, where they lost to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.

Isaac Tomchak scored two goals within 1:14 of game time apart, as he scored the tying goal with 27 seconds left to go and than the overtime winner in the first minute of the opening frame.

Nick Kunyk stood on his head, stopping 32 of 34 shots in the game, giving the Blizzard hope until the very end of the game.

The Wolverines scored first when an attempted pass by Mikey Thomas bounced off a Blizzard player and deflected into the net past Nick Kunyk.

In the second period, the Blizzard tied the game up when Hunter Dingman was able to find a lucky bounce and put it past Mariko Bercier.

In the third period, it took until 7:06 mark for a goal to be scored, as Aidan Herring scored on the powerplay to make it 2-1 heading into the final minutes.

But that’s when Tomchak put on a heroic performance to get the game tying goal and winner.

The Wolverines were 1/8 with the man advantage, and killed off each of the Blizzard’s five powerplay attempts.

The two teams will play again tomorrow in The Pas at 7:00pm.
