RECAP: Wolverines lose hard fought game

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines were close to giving the Niverville Nighthawks their second loss of the season, but couldn’t equalize late to lose 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The Wolverines were 0/5 on the man advantage, and Austin Dubinsky stopped 27 shots for the Nighthawks win, scoring the game winner halfway through the third period.

The game was tied after the first as no team could find the back of the net. The shots were 9-7 for the Wolverines.

The Nighthawks were the first team on the scoresheet when Merik Boles scored his 7th of the season just 2:19 into the second frame.

The Wolverines couldn’t find an answer until the third period, when Ben Roulette was able to out wait Dubinsky and slide it past him to tie the game up with 14:50 left in the game.

But the Nighthawks took the lead again with a goal by Adam Vigfusson at the 9:13 mark of the period.

A late attack by the Wolverines couldn’t generate any goals, and the Nighthawks skated away with their 10th straight win.

The Wolverines will next play on Wednesday as they host the Swan Valley Stampeders at 7:30pm.
