RECAP: Wolverines lose early lead, fall 2-1 in series

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines watched an early lead slip away to fall 4-2 to the Niverville Nighthawks, and now trail the best of seven series 2-1.

After a dominating first 15 minutes, the Nighthawks slowly chipped away at the deficit, and took the lead over the course of the game.

The Wolverines started the scoring when Max Collyer was left by himself and sniped one blocker side of Austin Dubinsky to make it 1-0 Wolverines.

With just over five minutes left into the period, a rebound from a Sebastien Hicks shot came out to Ben Roulette who was able to get his first of the playoffs to make it 2-0.

Just a few minutes later, Niverville got within one when Adam Vigfusson banked it off Jase Wareham to go into the intermission at 2-1 Wolverines.

In the second, after controlling most of the first half of the period, the Wolverines let their guard down in the second half of the period, and Adam Vigfusson was able to take advantage of a turnover and lucky bounce to tie the game ip at 2 heading into the third.

In the third period, after a missed call, the Nighthawks came down the other way and Evan Panzer scored on a breakaway to take a 3-2 lead.

The Nighthawks scored an empty netter to make it 4-2 as Dawson Zeller scored with a second left in the game.

The Wolverines continued their success on the penalty kill, killing off two Nighthawks powerplays, but the Wolverines failed to get one in the game.

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday for Game 4, as the Wolverines look to tie the series on home ice. Game starts at 7:30pm.
