The Waywayseecappo Wolverines playoff race points lead dropped down to one point after a loss to the Dauphin Kings 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Three goals given up in the second period, did the Wolverines in as their comeback in the third period came up short.
The Virden Oil Capitals meanwhile beat the Swan Valley Stampeders 3-1 in Swan River. Because of that, the Oil Capitals are just one point behind the Wolverines with both teams having to play two more games each.
The Wolverines started the scoring very early in the game when Aidan Herring scored a powerplay goal at 1:39.
But the Kings responded in the third, with two goals in 2:19 when Ethan Williment and Naaman Hofer scored to make it 2-1. Daniel Helary added a third goal at the 14:01 mark to make it 3-1.
The Wolverines got back in the game when Jaxon Grosdidier scored on the powerplay midway through the third, but the Wolverines were unable to find the equalizer.
The Wolverines next game won’t be until Friday as they host the Winnipeg Blues. Before that, they will be scoreboard watching as the Oil Capitals head to The Pas to take on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.
The Wolverines still hold their own fate, as two wins will get them to the playoffs.
