RECAP: Wolverines jump back into playoff spot with one game left

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are back in a playoff spot after a 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Blues.

The win puts them one point up on the Virden Oil Capitals with just one game left to go for both teams, both which will play on Saturday.

In the final regular season home game of the season, the Wolverines got goals from Jaxon Grosdidier, Sebastian Stone and Cole Hunter in the first two periods to get up to a 3-0 lead, which effectively put the game out of reach.

Winnipeg got a goal late when Carson White scored on the 6-on-4 powerplay chance.

The Wolverines outshot the Blues 33-17 in the game and were 1/3 on the powerplay.

The win sets up a dramatic Saturday as the Wolverines head up to Dauphin for the final game of the season. At the same time, the Virden Oil Capitals will be in Neepawa to take on the Titans.

The Wolverines will get in with a win or a Virden loss. That is the simple scenario, with a few more that will be more complicated.

The game in Dauphin starts at 7:30pm.
