RECAP: Wolverines get over slow start to beat Freeze

The Winnipeg Freeze put a bit of a scare into the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, but at the end of the day, the Wolverines got two points in a 5-2 win.

The Wolverines found themselves in a 2-0 hole after the first period, giving up two 2-on-1 goals from the hands of Cam Sarna and Luke Marykuca, but found a way to come back the rest of the way.

A four goal second period led the Wolverines to the win, with goals coming from Cole Hunter, Jaxon Grosdidier, Rhett Perrin and Jack Clarke.

Sebastian Stone put the game away with a powerplay goal to make it 5-2 late in the third period.

The Wolverines outshot the Freeze 49-17.

The game gave the Wolverines a five point lead in the race for the final playoff spot in the West Division. They got help in Virden as the Niverville Nighthawks came back from a 2-0 hole to beat the Oil Capitals 4-2.

The Wolverines will not play again until Tuesday as they host the Dauphin Kings. In the meantime, they will watch from a far as the Oil Capitals take on the Steinbach Pistons on Thursday and Neepawa Titans on Saturday.
