The Waywayseecappo Wolverines keep on making franchise history, as they won their first second round game in team history, with a 3-1 win over the Niverville Nighthawks, tying the best of seven series 1-1.
Dylan Hebert ended up scoring the game winner at the 5:51 mark of the third period to put the Wolverines ahead for good, as they were able to hold on for the win.
After a scoreless first period between the two teams, Dylan Duzan got the first goal of the game with his 4th of the playoffs after a nice deke and backhand top shelf goal.
The Nighthawks tied it up just six minutes later when Kole Mears was able to find the loose puck and hammer it in to get the first and what ended up being the last Hawks goal.
In the third, Hebert scored on a shot that went through Austin Dubinsky to give the Wolverines the lead.
Sebastien Hicks put the final touches on the game with an empty net goal with 47 seconds left in the game.
The Wolverines in the game killed off five Nighthawks powerplays, including a 5-on-3 for 1:39 in the first period. The team itself went scoreless on their only powerplay of the game.
Jase Wareham stopped 27 of 28 in the win, while Dubinsky stopped 23 of 25 in the loss.
The two teams will meet back in Niverville for Game 3 on Monday night at 7:30pm.
