RECAP: Wolverines get back in fourth place with dominating win over Stamps

For right now, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines are back in fourth place in the West Division, after a 5-1 win over the Swan Stampeders.

The Wolverines moved past the Virden Oil Capitals with the win, and now hold a one point edge, but still have one more game played as of the moment.

The first period had no scoring, as the Stampeders got out to the first nine shots of the game, but the Wolverines answered with seven more to end the period.

In the second period is when the floodgates opened, as the Wolverines got on the scoreboard when Jack Clarke finished off a two on one with Cole Hunter to make it 1-0.

The Stampeders scored right after though to tie the game up at 1 when Ekam Dhaliwal tucked it five hole.

The Wolverines got back to scoring when Sebastien Hicks scored a beautiful breakaway goal to make it 2-1.

Right after, Jack Clarke tipped in a fluttering Ryley Cyca shot from the point to make it a two goal game.

Then after a Landen Gulutzan ejection after a check to the head, giving the Wolverines a five minute powerplay, the Wolverines got two goals from Griffin Ayotte and Jack Clarke’s second of the game, making it 5-1 at the end of the second.

In the third, the Stamps has a little push back, but couldn’t convert, and the game ended 5-1.

Mariko Bercier was excellent in the game, getting himself another win. The Wolverines powerplay went 1/3 in the game, and they killed the Stampeders one powerplay chance.

The Wolverines will now take on the Neepawa Titans in Neepawa on Saturday night. Elsewhere, the Virden Oil Capitals will take on the Steinbach Pistons.
