RECAP: Wolverines finish weekend perfect

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines got a chance in back to back nights to take on the leaders in the West Division, and they were able to take on the challenge.

The Wolverines finished off the two game set with a 5-1 win over the Northern Manitoba Blizzard, to compliment their 4-2 win over the Dauphin Kings on Thursday night.

Lucas Perry scored twice, Jase Wareham stopped 21 shots and Sebastien Hicks finished with two points in the win.

The Wolverines started the scoring very quick as Dru Mushumanski got a feed from Jaxon Grosdidier, to beat Taye Timmerman 1:37 into the game to take the early lead.

Sebastien Hicks made it 2-0 with a powerplay goal when he went down the end boards and beat the goalie with a wrist shot.

Later on in the period, Lucas Perry beat Timmerman with a shot from the blue line, as he was screened in front.

In the second period, Perry scored his second as he ripped one from the point to make it 4-0.

In the third period, Deegan Wapass scored on the powerplay just 16 seconds into the final frame to give the Wolverines a 5-0 lead.

Miguel Bouvier scored for the Blizzard to break the shutout, but that’s as close as they would get.

The Wolverines were 2/3 on the powerplay, and killed off both of the Blizzard powerplays.

The Blizzard switched goalies after the Wolverines fourth goal, putting in Alex Reedy.

The Wolverines will play the Winkler Flyers next on Tuesday, at the Waywayseecappo Arena.
