RECAP: Wolverines eke by Blues

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines came from behind to beat the Winnipeg Blues 4-2.

Trailing heading into the second period, the Wolverines scored the next three goals to get themselves their 4th straight win and 10th straight game with a point.

The Blues started the scoring when Lucas Lagouette was found all by himself in front of the net and wristed one past Wolverines goaltender Jase Wareham to make it 1-0.

The Wolverines tied the game immediately after, just 22 seconds later when Ben Roulette found a bouncing puck and put it in a wide open net.

The Blues took the lead late in the period though with a powerplay goal scored by Campbell Epp with just 2:12 left to go in the first.

For most of the second period, the Wolverines couldn’t solve Kannen Kirkwood, but they found a way through in the dying minutes, as Kurt Rookes went under the bar on the powerplay to tie the game up at 2.

Sebastien Hicks scored his 28th of the season just a minute and a half later by scoring an identical goal and making it 3-2.

In the third, the Wolverines had to kill off two penalties, and then Rhett Perrin put the finishing touches on the game with an empty net goal with 1:28 left in the game.

Wareham stopped 30 shots in the win, while Kannan Kirkwood stopped 33 in the loss.

The Wolverines will next take on the Winkler Flyers on Saturday at 7:30pm in Winkler.
