The Waywayseecappo Wolverines held on to a two goal lead and even added to it as they beat the Portage Terriers 6-3 on Saturday night.
Aidan Herring had two goals and an assist, Ben Roulette had four assists, and Sebastien Hicks added another two goals in the win.
The Portage Terriers started out hot as Beck Bethard scored his second of the year just 21 seconds into the game. But not long afterwards, Noah Oughton got his third of the year to tie the game up.
Cole Hunter added another for the Wolverines to make it 2-1 just a few minutes later. Hunter had another chance to add to the lead on a penalty shot, but he was denied by Ryan Velan.
In the second period, the only goal that was added was Aidan Herring who scored on the powerplay to make it 3-1.
In the third period, Sebastien Hicks scored just after a powerplay ended, to make it 4-1, but the Terriers got within two again when Owen Witt ripped one past Mariko Bercier to make it 4-2.
Just 15 seconds later, Herring was able to retrieve a bouncing puck from a pass from Kurt Rookes to break away and score to make it 5-2.
The Terriers got within two again when Hunter Dingman was able to top it past Bercier with just 5:29 left in the game, but Hicks scored his second of the game on an empty net to seal the game.
Bercier got the win in the game with 28 saves in the game, while Velan stopped 17 in the loss.
The Wolverines next game will be on Friday as they host the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.
