For the first time since 2011, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines have a 2-0 series lead as they beat the Dauphin Kings 4-1.
The Wolverines scored three unanswered after the first intermission to keep home ice advantage as they head to Dauphin on
Tuesday for Game 2.
The Wolverines were the first team on the board when Dylan Duzan was able to squeak one past Bauer just six minutes into the period.
The Kings tied it up late on a 3-on-2 when Ethan Stewart was able to slide one past Jase Wareham with just 29 seconds left.
In the second period, the Wolverines got out to a quick start, as just 2:42 into the period, Treycen Wuttunee scored on a rebound goal after Blake Farthing was hooked going to the net.
Later on, Sebastien Hicks was fed a breakaway, which he answered slipping it past Bauer to give the Wolverines a two goal lead heading into the third period.
Waywayseecappo was able to shut down the Kings the rest of the game, and put the finishing touches on the game as Kurt Rookes scored a powerplay goal, getting his second of the series.
The game got chippy in the later part of the game, as there was a fight, and ten 10-minute misconducts thrown out and a couple game misconducts as well. In total, 204 penalty minutes were handed out.
Jase Wareham stood tall once again, stopping 24 of 25 shots in the game. Bauer stopped 24 in the loss.
The two teams will go again for Game 3, at 7:00pm at Credit Union Place. The next time the series will be in Waywayseecappo, will be Game 4 on Thursday at 7:30pm.
