The Waywayseecappo Wolverines had to come from behind to beat the Swan Valley Stampeders 7-5 on the Truth and Reconciliation Game.
With the win, the Wolverines move to 5-0 all-time playing on the day and playing in the orange jerseys.
After a duelling first period, in which both teams scored one goal (Rhett Perrin scored for the Wolverines, Trace Langan scored for the Stampeders), the two teams exploded for eight goals in the second period.
The Wolverines scored first with Gage Sutherland scoring just 29 seconds into the game. But Chantyn Michell-Thompson responded 19 seconds later to tie the game. The Stamps took the lead immediately after when Darren hunt scored 12 seconds after that.
The Stampeders took a two goal lead when Jaxon Haley was able to score a shorthanded goal, but the Wolverines got within one just seconds later when Perrin scored his second of the game on the powerplay.
But with the Stampeders going on the poweplay within the minute, Gavin Bartha scored to make it 5-3.
The Wolverines were able to tie the game when Cale Livingston and Mikey Thomas scored before the end of the period.
In the third period, Sebastien Hicks scored on the powerplay to make it 6-5, before Ben Roulette put the final touches on the game with an empty net goal.
Jase Wareham went 3-0 on the year with a 29 save performance in the game, while Easton Falls stopped 25 of 32 shots in the game.
The Wolverines were perfect on the powerplay, going 3/3 while letting Swan Valley go 1/5 with the man advantage.
Waywayseecappo will head to Steinbach on Friday to take on the Pistons to start a road trip where they finish on Saturday against the Winnipeg Monarchs.
