RECAP: Wolverines come back to beat Oil Capitals in overtime

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines snapped their three game losing streak with a come from behind win over the Virden Oil Capitals in overtime.

Max Collyer scored at the 2:19 mark of overtime to give the Wolverines two points.

Virden got the scoring started when London Hoilett scored his 17th of the season after the wired one past Jase Wareham on the powerplay.

The Oil Capitals got the second goal when Carson Wright’s shot from the point bounced off a Wolverine and into the net.

The Wolverines managed to get one back when Aidan Herring was able to blast one through scrambling bodies in front of Micky Gross.

In the second period, the Wolverines tied the game up when Blake Farthing got on his own rebound and beat Gross, on the powerplay.

In the third, Ben Roulette scored his 14th of the season after a cross ice pass from Kurt Rookes that gave the Wolverines their first lead of the game.

But the Oil Capitals tied the game up on a 2-on-1 when Liam Goertzen slid it through Wareham’s pads.

But in overtime, Collyer won the game for the Wolverines.

Jase Wareham stopped 36 of 39 shots for the win, while Gross stopped 23 shots in the loss.

The Wolverines will now take on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard on home ice on Friday night to finish off the three games in four days this week.
