After an abysmal first period, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines scored four unanswered to finish the season off on a high note with a 4-2 win over the Northern Manitoba Blizzard.
A young Wolverines team that was missing most of their top scorers, and had three AP’s in the game started off slow before rebounding in the second and third period to pull out the win.
Jase Wareham bounced back after giving up a goal from the neutral zone, to stop 40 shots in the win.
The Blizzard went up 2-0 after the first from goals by Dylan Westmann and Jett Fogle, while the team outshot the Wolverines 20-9.
But the Wolverines got within one in the second period after a point shot from Ryley Cyca. The period had a pretty eventful line brawl after a Cyca hit, that ended up having two fights during the stoppage.
In the third, the Wolverines tied it up quickly as Rhett Perrin was able to tip one in at the 3:21 mark.
A few minutes later, Blake Farthing scored to give the Wolverines their first lead of the game, and the team held on from there. Mikey Thomas had a tipped in goal as well to seal the deal with 2:19 left in the game.
The Wolverines will take the win, and head to Dauphin later this week to start the first round series against the Kings. The schedule will be released on Monday.
