The Waywayseecappo Wolverines played two of their best periods of hockey, on their way to a 5-2 win over the Neepawa Titans, clinching 3rd in the West Division, setting up a first round series against the Dauphin Kings.
After an up and down first period, the Wolverines controlled the game the rest of the way, putting up three unanswered to solidify themselves in the 3rd spot.
Just 2:22 into the game, Lynden Gould scored his first junior goal after he was able to bank one in from below the goal line to open the scoring.
Just minutes later, on the powerplay, Jake Nelson was able to find the open cage to make it 2-0.
The Titans answered back with a nice snipe by Kyle Weisgarber at the 9:50 mark, making it 2-1 to finish off the first period.
In the second period, the Titans tied the game up with a slapshot from the point from Jacob Faith.
But Sebastien Hicks gave the Wolverines the lead with his 33rd of the season after a few minutes in the Neepawa zone.
A goal was waved off for goaltender interference for the Wolverines, that could have given them a 4-2 lead heading into the third.
In the third, the powerplay went back to work giving Aidan Herring a goal to make it 4-2.
Dylan Hebert put up the finishing touches with a top corner shot making it 5-2.
Mariko Bercier made some big saves for 21 on the night in the win.
The Wolverines now have two games left, both on home ice, as they host the Virden Oil Capitals on Saturday and then the Northern Manitoba Blizzard on Sunday. They are expected to start their series with the Dauphin Kings next Friday in Dauphin.
