The Waywayseecappo Wolverines left the weekend with only one goal under their belt after two games against some of the best teams in the MJHL, but made it close both times, which included a 2-0 loss to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard on Sunday.
The Wolverines could only generate 17 shots on the Blizzard netminder, Alex Reedy, who was able to get his second straight shutout.
The team kept the Blizzard mostly off the board, except for two goals scored by Marlen Edwards, as one of them came on the powerplay in the second period, and the other happened early in the third.
Mariko Bercier was fantastic for the Wolverines, with 26 saves in the loss. It was his second start since being acquired, and his first game against his hometown team.
The Wolverines weren’t able to get a powerplay the entire game, while they had to kill five penalties, successful on four of them.
The shutout, is the third time this season the Wolverines have been unable to score a goal in a game.
Waywayseecappo will next play on Wednesday, when they host the Selkirk Steelers at 7:30pm.
