RECAP: Wolverines answer the bell, clinch playoff spot

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines had to fight through their game with the Swan Valley Stampeders, winning 4-1 to clinch their spot to the 2026 MJHL Playoffs.

In a game with 152 penalty minutes and featured a goalie fight, the Wolverines bounced back in a big way to beat the Stampeders.

The Wolveirnes scored two goals quick in the first period as Sebastien Hicks was able to rifle one past Samuel Bastien at the 8:30 mark. Just over a minute later, Ben Roulette made it 2-0 when he was able to snipe it on the powerplay.

In the second period, all hell broke out, as a dirty hit from Ryder Woods started a line brawl which saw the two goalies go at it as well. Ninety minutes of penalties were given out, and there was six ejections.

Right after the fights, the Wolverines gave themselves a 3-0 lead after top shelf goal by Noah Oughton from Treycen Wuttunee.

In the third period, the Stampeders got within two goals when Trace Langan had a breakaway goal over Mariko Bercier, who had to replace Jase Wareham after the fights.

The Wolverines got back up three after Max Collyer scored just after a powerplay ended to ice the game.

Bercier was nearly flawless in relief, stopping 19 of 20, while Easton Falls stopped 13 of 15 in the loss after coming in for relief. Wareham did end up with the win, with 11 saves, while Samuel Bastien stopped 18 of 20 but got the loss.

The Wolverines next game will be against the league leading Niverville Nighthawks on Saturday in Niverville at 7:30pm.
