The same script frwas followed for the second straight game as the Waywayseecappo Wolverines lost Game 2 on home ice, but this time 3-1 to the Dauphin Kings.
No empty net goal was scored this time, but the Waywayseecappo Wolverines are looking for answers after another third period got away from them to drop 2-0 in the first round series.
The Wolverines scored first again as Dylan Duzan capitalized on a 3-on-1 just two minutes into the second period.
The Kings tied it up when a mishandle came to Matthew Thomas, who was able to put it five hole through Mariko Bercier to tie the game at 1.
In the third period, a turnover in the Wolverines end landed on Gavin Nemis’ stick and he went backhanded top shelf to give the Kings a 2-1 lead.
To put it away, Cayden Glover finished off a 2-on-1 that was initally stopped by Bercier, but he was able to put away the rebound to make it a final 3-1.
The shots were close after the first two periods, but Dauphin controlled the game in the third period, outshooting Waywayseecappo 12-5.
Cole Sheffield was nearly perfect stopping 27 of 28 shots. Bercier stopped 30 of 33 on the night.
Both team’s powerplays couldn’t do anything, as the Wolverines were 0/3, and Dauphin was 0/2.
The two teams will meet on Tuesday in Dauphin could take a stranglehold on the series.
