RECAP: New Wolverines score in win over Dauphin

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines earned their second win of the preseason on Friday night, defeating the Dauphin Kings 3–1 at Credit Union Place.

Waywayseecappo controlled the opening period, outshooting Dauphin 13–2 and capitalizing on an early power-play opportunity.

Ian Buors opened the scoring at the 5:36 mark for his first goal in a Wolverines uniform.

The Kings tied the game just 34 seconds into the second period when Kale Pratte found the back of the net.

Grady McNish restored Waywayseecappo’s lead at 8:58, scoring his first of the preseason. Just 80 seconds later, Carter Polanski provided some insurance by making it 3–1.

The Wolverines carried their two-goal advantage into the third period, where Riley Foster shut the door. Foster stopped all 15 shots he faced after entering the game midway through the second period, including 13 saves in the final frame.

Urijah Moosetail started between the pipes and turned aside six of the seven shots he faced.

Waywayseecappo finished the night with a 29–22 advantage in shots, went 1-for-3 on the power play and successfully killed off all three Dauphin opportunities.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night at the Waywayseecappo Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
