RECAP: Flyers all over Wolverines

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines let things slip away in the second period on the way to an 8-3 loss to the Winkler Flyers

After a back and forth first period in the game, the Flyers scored three in the second period, before putting the game away in the third period.

The two teams exchanged goals in the first, with Winkler starting the scoring with a goal by Niklas Gudmundson. Aidan Herring tied it up just seconds later. Gudmundson scored again to put Winkler up 2-1, before Sebastien Hicks scored seconds later again on the breakway. The Wolverines got themselves a 3-2 lead with another Herring goal, before Trevor Dalton tied it up for Winkler.

After a 5 minute powerplay to start the second period, Winkler got goals from Jacob Michelson, Owen Wallace, Ezekial Lambert, Dalton again and Charles Bernier.

Mariko Bercier was pulled from the net after the eight goal of the contest, and replaced with Jase Wareham. After a bad start forĀ  Leif Ekblad, he stopped the rest of the shots in the game to get the win, stopping 30.

The Wolverines failed to win their second straight game for the second time this year, and will now host the Swan Valley Stampders on Tuesday for the Truth and Reconciliation Game
