PREVIEW: Wolverines-Terriers play third time in a week

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines will be hosting the Portage Terriers once again, as the two teams play for a third time in a week.

The two teams played a home and home last weekend, with Portage winning both games, winning 5-2 and 4-2.

In the first game, the two teams exchanged goals for the first half of the game until the Terriers ran away with the game in the third period. In the second period, Portage went out to a 3-0 lead, but nearly coughed it up in the third before putting the game away with an empty netter.

Since last weekend, both teams played a game in between, as the Waywayseecappo Wolverines beat the Virden Oil Capitals 4-1, and the Portage Terriers beat the Neepawa Titans 4-3.

With the win over the week, the Wolverines are three points back of Virden for the final playoff spot in the West Division, with three games in hand.

Meanwhile for the Terriers, they are in a dog fight in the East Division, finding themselves second in the East, three points back of Steinbach, and two points up on Winkler.

This is the third of four matchups between the Wolverines and Terriers, and they won’t meet again until March in Portage.
